We are currently introducing a new set of console system that combines features of PS3 and Nintendo Wii.

Our target market audience consist of the hardcore games who wish to have realistic games and the non-gamers like the disabled who wish to play games but are unable to do so due to physical disabilities.

As seen from Nintendo Wii, it has been proven that many people who don’t play games or seldom play are starting to pick up Wii and play as they wish to keep fit and at the same time enjoy playing the game.

Our competitors are mainly the console game makers like PS3 and Nintendo Wii. we will come up with better games consoles to stay compeititve within the market itself.

Our main competitive advantage is that it allows non-gamers like health conscious people to pick up the game as it allows them to work out while playing, and for the physically disabled people they can use our propriety controllers  like brain-wave sensors to play games. this will able to capture public attention.

technology product that had been flopped: floppy diskette. it had fall under laggards in the technology adoption life cycle. it had totally flopped when thumbdrive had been launched into the market. other than that, most of the computers nowadays had no floppydiskette slots as all is USB ports.

thus apply bowling pin model is recommended as we can approach the niche market expansion in as leverage a way as possible, to bowl towards the tornado. caming up with a technology that target on the niche market first, subsequently, on other segment of users, to overcome collective switching costs.

A high end product that able to differentiate itself from others is I Phone. there are quite a number of similar products in the market such as HTC and samsung touch screen phone. but IPhone is using red ocean strategy to differentiater itself by outperform their rivals, coming up with more advanced games application and making it more interactive with the users.

this product is within the mature market.

lastly, I phone is in the product leadership zone and using application innovation as it has crossed the chasm, since games are now widely available and the public has come to accept the ideas of more interactive games, and assiocate this feature with I phone.

Basically I feel that SD cards are more popular than memory stick and CF cards. As nowadays more and more hand mobile phones are using SD cards and it will much easier to transfer files and communicate efficiently with other model of mobile phones. Secure Digital (SD) is a non-volatile memory format developed by Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba for use in portable devices.

Actually it is not truly open as it prohibits the development of an open source driver, a fact that generates a fair amount of consternation in the open-source and free software communities. The system was eventually reverse-engineered though, and the non-DRMed sections of the memory cards could be accessed by free software drivers.  However nowadays SD Card Association(SDA) has made access to a simplified version of the specification available under a less-restrictive licence.^[6] Although most open-source drivers were written before this, it has helped them to solve some compatibility issues.

 I had been using StarHub plan for the past 5 years and paying a subscription fees of $30 monthly. In fact I don’t feel quite happy with the starhub line because of its poor reception. The reason why I don’t wish to change to other plan is because I loved to change phone. Starhub come up with the plan that after 1 year of the contract you will be able to upgrade your existing plan and get to enjoy a handphone in a promotion price. Therefore I had to wait for 1 year before my contract with starhub end and upgrade the plan in order to buy a new phone in a promotion price. If not, I had to wait for 2 years to end the contract with starhub in order to change a phone.

Basically, starhub had always come up with attractive plans like giving freebies or free handphone when you upgrade your existing plans. So I am attracted to starhub plan.

I Pod had been priced so aggressively that other competitors such as Creative had difficulties to match with. Although I Pod is not the first mover to launch MP3 devices in the market but I POD is considered as dominant firm that may not produce the best product but wins on size and economics of scale.

The next factor will be its unique design for MP3 devices such as slim and fashionable features which will be able to capture youngsters’ attention. Through that more and more youngsters are using it and IPOD had established a positive network and create a wide network. Therefore customers will think hard to switch different brand of products.

If I am a competitor, I will look into the market’s needs in the long term basis. Example, what will be the next fashionable MP3 devices’ design among the teenagers? I can do surveys among teenagers and based from the feedback launching a new brand for it to capture their attention.

For lecture 2, I had got to learnt 1 of the differential pricing which is versioning. It means by offering products in different version for different market segment. For information product, it is best by designing the high-end product first; subsequently remove features to make the low-end version.

I had been using Microsoft Office software daily. Inside Microsoft Office, I used Microsoft Words frequently. At first Microsoft launched Words in the market, and many users had adapted to it. Subsequently Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook had been bundled together with Words free of charge and sell the whole software as Microsoft Office. This will be the good marketing strategy to introduce new products in the market. Although I may not often use Microsoft PowerPoint, but since it had been installed inside Microsoft Office. Whenever I need to use, I don’t feel that there is a need to buy other PowerPoint software application. As more and more people is using it, it had been standardized using Microsoft Office.

There are 4 versions: Microsoft Office XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2003 Professional, Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise and Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate.

As it is versioned this way, because different version of Microsoft Office had different system requirements. Customer can chose their different version based on their computer requirement. Microsoft 2007 Enterprise and Ultimate had been priced more expensive than other versions as it is more user-intensive. Big Corporation companies will be able to adapt using these particular versions instead of home-users versions.
